AUBURN HILLS (WKZO) -- Chrysler is reporting U.S. sales in August were up nearly 20-percent over the same month last year, exceeding analysts' already optimistic expectations. It marks the automaker's 53rd consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains and the strongest August in twelve years.
Jeep brand sales were up 49-percent making last month the brand's best August ever. The Ram pickup truck logged its best August sales since 2003 with a 33-percent jump over August of 2013.
The Chrysler brand rose a modest four-percent which was enough to make it the brand's best August since 2007. That increase was driven largely by sales of the Chrysler 200 and Chrysler Town and Country.
