KALAMAZOO (WKZO)– Kalamazoo Rep. Jon Hoadley and The Michigan League of Conservation Voters hosted a Town Hall meeting in the Douglass Community Center to talk about the state’s energy future, which is up for grabs this year.
They say the State has met a 10% mandate for alternative energy, and its time to set the next goal.Hoadley says the House democrats have a plan that calls for having 20% of our energy coming from alternatives by 2022.
Jack Schmidt with the Michigan League says Lawton Republican Aric Nesbitt drafted the GOP plan, and they disagree with almost every part of it.
They support the Governor’s proposal.
The rates you pay, the energy you use and whether or not the state will be at risk of blackouts and brownouts could all be determined by the debate this year.
