KALAMAZOO (WKZO)– Kalamazoo Schools Superintendent Michael Rice says he worries that a request for special education funding for schools across Kalamazoo County that will appear on the May 5th ballot could be in jeopardy because of growing opposition to the state’s road funding proposal.
He says they are not counting on the revenue from Proposal 1 designated for schools either.
The funding for special education is needed to offset cuts in state funding and the growing need as the number of disabled children increases.
He is asking voters to weigh each of the requests separately.
