KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — 35-year-old Christopher Oros, a petty con-man from Battle Creek has been sentenced to life without chance of parole, after one of the people he attempted to con wound up dead.
He was going door to door at the Claybourne Courts apartment complex in Kalamazoo claiming to be a tenant who got locked out and needed money to get to work.
He knocked on the door of Marie McMillan, and soon after she had been stabbed 29 times and by the end of the day, her apartment had been robbed and set on fire in an attempt to cover up the crime last February.
His former girlfriend, who was enlisted to aid in the cover-up was one of the key witnesses to testify against him.
The Judge called the murder heinous.
Oros plans to appeal.
A Newaygo County dad who accidentally smothered his infant daughter, by sharing the same bed, has been given 2 to 7 years in prison, as part of a plea bargain for concealing the 4-month-old baby’s death for several days.
He apologized in court.
28-year-old Matthew Bradley lied to the mother and family members, fearing the consequences because he was drunk and using drugs when baby Natallya died in May.
