COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A former Bronson resident and one-time minister is going to prison for sexually assaulting a juvenile male from Coldwater this summer in the man’s van at Oakgrove cemetery in Coldwater. 52-year old Carlo Sgambelluri II of West Branch was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty in October to reduced charges.
Branch County Circuit Court Judge Bill O’Grady ordered Sgambelluri to serve 23-months to 5 years for attempted criminal sexual conduct third degree and 16 months to 2 years for fourth degree CSC. In addition to an original charge of third degree CSC,
Sgambelluri also had been facing a count of using a computer to commit a crime. He was arrested by Michigan State Police in the early morning hours of September 1, 2015. A trooper pulled over his van on a traffic stop along US-12 in Coldwater and said he discovered the boy in the vehicle and learned that the 14-year old had been assaulted.
