LANSING (WKZO) — State lawmakers are working to find places to cut the current fiscal year’s budget in order to eliminate a roughly 325-million dollar deficit.
House Appropriations Committee Chairman Al Pscholka says they’re “getting close” to crafting a solution, and he expects legislation detailing the cuts to be up for a vote after an executive order from Governor Snyder next month. The Stevensville Republican says the governor’s budget recommendations for fiscal year 2016 will come out first.
While the cuts will hit many state agencies, Pscholka says he’s striving to protect schools and local governments from any funding cuts.
