COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater School District officials say the winning bid for the installation of a new all-purpose synthetic turf football field as well as a new track went to a suburban Cleveland firm, Sports Contracting Group, in the amount of $1.5 million dollars. The field is expected to be in place in time for the Coldwater varsity football season opener at home against Hastings on August 28, 2015.
The new field and track are being funded with a $1 million Larsen Unitrust gift to the school district as well as a portion of $6 million in state bonds that will pay for other needed building, technology, and security improvements. The remainder of the $2.5 million athletic field complex project including a new press box and entrance ways, is scheduled to be completed next spring.
