DETROIT (WKZO) — Mitchelle Blair told a Wayne County Judge Friday she would “happily” do a sentence of life in prison for killing two of her children.
The Detroit woman was found competent to stand trial but Judge Kenneth King is waiting for the results of an independent competency review before accepting a plea.
Blair told the court she did not understand why prosecutors were seeking a trial since she has admitted to killing her 13-year-old daughter Stoni Blair and nine-year-old son Stephen Berry.
The children’s bodies were found inside a freezer in the family’s home earlier this year, as authorities were preparing to evict the woman and her two surviving children.
