COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was just about six months ago that the announcement was made that a $250-million pork processing facility was coming to Coldwater with up to 800 new jobs. Now it seems a cheese factory may be located nearby.
No one with the city is commenting but a hint of what might happen if all the right pieces fall into place was evident with a public notice published Saturday in the Coldwater Daily Reporter. The notice is part of the red tape required if it comes about that such a business would be located on a plot of land on the southeast corner of Jonesville Road and I-69. That’s in the same vicinity of where the Clemens pork processing facility will be constructed.
Saturday’s notice deals with a review of proposed activity in a 100 year floodplain or wetland and is mandated by HUD regulations and asks that written comments be received by the city by July 6, 2015. The notice also says this plot of land will be used to construct a 200,000 square foot cheese manufacturing facility.
