SHERWOOD, MI (WTVB) – Two pickup truck drivers were injured last night in Branch County when one of the drivers accused of having a so-called “super drunk” alcohol blood level blew through a stop sign and collided with the second vehicle. The crash occurred around 6 p.m. in Sherwood Township on Locke Road near Milligan Road.
Michigan State Police troopers said when they arrived at the scene, they found both drivers with serious injuries to their arms and neck. A news release said 18-year old Casey Clementz of Sherwood was traveling eastbound on Milligan Road when the other pickup, which was headed south on Locke failed to stop for the stop sign. The 44-year old Sherwood man was treated and released from the Community Health Center of Branch County and then booked at the Branch County Jail on 3 charges: operating with a blood alcohol count of .17 or above, transport open container, and parole violation. His name was withheld pending arraignment in district court.
Clementz was taken to Marshall’s Oaklawn Hospital by Life Care Ambulance for treatment, and was listed in good condition as of Monday afternoon. The Sherwood Fire Department also assisted the State Police.
