TEKONSHA, MI (WTVB) – For the second time in less than 2 months, an earthquake has been felt in southwest Michigan. The United States Geological Service says the minor earthquake happened at about 11:42 a.m. Tuesday in Calhoun County’s Tekonsha Township. It measured 3.3, which was weaker than the 4.2 magnitude quake that rattled Scotts in southern Kalamazoo County on May 2nd. No damage has been reported at last word.
The epicenter of the quake was on 12 1/2 Mile Road along Warner Lake northwest of Tekonsha. Julie Dutton with the U.S.G.S. says this may very well have been an aftershock from the earlier quake, along a fault line that seems to run under southern Kalamazoo County down though Branch County.
