DORR (WKZO)– A suspected triple murderer showed little remorse for killing his family In court yesterday, and now a secondary investigaton has begun.
Wearing a suicide vest, 32-year-old Corey LaValley of Dorr has been formally charged in a video arraignment for his alleged involvement in the shooting deaths of his ex-girlfriend, and her two children, including his own son.
So far there are five charges, three counts of open murder, a gun charge and charge of second degree arson.
Prosecutors are now saying that the actual murders took place Monday night. They say that Lavalley left, came back Tuesday afternoon and set the place on fire.
Bond was denied. He has reportedly confessed to friends, some who may wind up testifying against him.
Lavalley has a long criminal record for violence, assaultive behavior and substance abuse.
The office of the Ombudsman is reportedly investigating claims made by Will McComber, the father of the teenaged girl who was killed that he has been trying for six years to convince state family court officials that abuse was a regular feature of life with Corey Lavalley.
Chief Investigator Tobin Miller would not speak about this specific case but did outline what they are looking for when they begin an investigation.
They will try to determine if good practices were followed and good decisions made.Miller says there has been some intervention in the past two years.
