ALBION (WKZO) — Two suspected armed robbers are in custody in Albion, and a third is being sought after a man was robbed at gunpoint.
One had a shotgun, the other a pistol. The muggers took off in a car with a third man, and the victim gave chase in his own car, contacting Albion police by cell phone. During the chase, the suspects fired at the Victim’s pursuing car, but missed.
Albion officers joined the chase. The suspects abandoned their car and escaped on foot. Two were tracked down by a K-9 at E. Erie St. and South Clark and arrested. The third man got away.
Two squad cars crashed into each other at that intersection, responding to the track. The officers were not hurt.
The event triggered a Safety Alert at nearby Albion College.
Anyone with information on the third suspect is asked to call Albion Police.
