HOMER TOWNSHIP (WKZO) — An autopsy on a Calhoun County woman found dead along the Flint River has revealed that she was beaten and strangled to death.
The investigation began when the burned out rented car that was traced to 44-year-old Amy Weinski was determined to be arson by Police in Mt. Morris, Michigan.
Calhoun County Deputies were asked to see if she was home at her place in Homer Township and discovered she was missing.
The Major Crimes Task Force was activated and her boyfriend, 45-year-old John Barritt was questioned, taken into custody and turned over to Mt. Morris police.
Monday night, the body of the missing woman was located and the autopsy ordered. Charges are pending.
