COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Despite the forecast for rain all weekend, the Branch County Fairgrounds stayed relatively dry to help produce another successful Swap Meet and Car Show. While the numbers of cars for the 28th annual event were down, which organizers attributed to the threat of rain, attendance by spectators was up on Saturday.
Sunday’s second day of the show did end slow, with less that 100 cars attending, compared to 667 vehicles on Saturday.
The spectator prize of a $250 gift certificate from Pell’s Tires went to Erika Lincoln of Coldwater. For the car participants, Peg Bell of Auburn, Indiana won a $500 gift certificate from Pell’s Tires, Dean Lutzens of Coldwater won a transmission from Randy’s Trannys, and Sandy Blanchard of Coldwater won a pair of complete aluminum heads from MR Performance.
New this year was a bike contest for kids, with Dallas Higelmeijer having the Coolest Bike, Reese Williams the Most Colorful, Brahn Heminger the Most Creative, and Calib Lipscomb winning the Gotta Do It awrd.
On Saturday, Joe Abbeg won the Muffler Rap contest, a Camero from MR Performance won the Open Header contest, and Bill Labadie won the Motorcycle Rappin’ contest.
All profits from the Swap Meet and Car Show go back to local non-profit organizations.
