KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo Vikings have taken second place in the National Youth Football Championships.
Last year, they finished third.
The team, made up of children between 9 and 11 years old, traveled to Daytona Beach, Fla., with over the Thanksgiving holiday to play in the championship series.
The team fell to the Tucker Lions of Georgia.
The program not only stresses tackling and blocking, but reading, writing and arithmetic, encouraging and helping players to do well in school.
