KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Western Michigan University Police Chief Scott Merlo says officers with the agency will remain focused on finding impaired drivers, minors drinking alcohol and getting people into and out of Waldo Stadium safely for Saturday’s rivalry football game between the Broncos and Central Michigan.
“We’ll have a heavy police presence in and around the tailgate areas, and in certain traffic areas so we can get people into the parking lots safely and efficiently,” Merlo said.
Merlo says it’s a normal football weekend for him, as far as manpower is concerned. Kalamazoo Public Safety is doubling its presence throughout the city for the game.
The game kicks off at noon. Parking lots for tailgaters are scheduled to open at 8 a.m.
