Trial is set to begin Wednesday in the case of a man accused of breaking into the house of a Kalamazoo Public Safety officer back in February.
Christopher Palmer, 26, was shot by the wife of the officer inside the residence west of Schoolcraft. Prosecutors say Palmer kicked in a basement window after both he and an accomplice knocked on the front door.
Palmer, as part of a deal with prosecutors, originally pleaded no contest to a second-degree home invasion charge, but withdrew the plea in July.
If found guilty, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
