KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — A Commerce Township man and former Western Michigan University student has admitted to the January shooting death of his girlfriend in her Oshtemo Township apartment.
Korbin Thomas took a plea deal Thursday and will be sentenced to at least eight to 15 years in prison Oct. 5.
Prosecutors say Thomas admitted to his father during a recorded jailhouse conversation that he was involved in the death of 21-year-old Jazmyne Gibson, but did not admit to pulling the trigger.
Thomas was originally a person of interest in the investigation, but was later charged with open murder and a gun felony.
