OSHTEMO (WKZO-AM) — A fire in a building in the Quail Run Apartment complex in Oshtemo has left four tenants looking for new lodging, and has left a lot of unanswered questions.
The first fire crews who arrived on the scene just after 7 p.m. found flames shooting from the top of the roof, where construction crews had been working just hours before.
Their response was delayed because the two nearest fire hydrants were not working. Eventually, they were able to run a line to a hydrant 700 feet away.
That hose was later damaged by a motorist who ran it over.
There were no injuries.
Fire investigators say they want to talk to the construction crew to find out why the hydrants were broken. Citations against the driver who ruined their hose may also be issued.
