ST. JOSEPH COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A man is in jail in connection to the murder of an 11-year-old Constantine girl in 2007.
The link connecting 65-year-old Daniel Furlong to Jodi Parrack’s death was made on a bit of a hunch, when investigators in St. Joseph County opted to test the man’s DNA after he was arrested for the attempted assault of another child in White Pidgeon.
The long-shot ultimately paid off, as the DNA matched.
“Count one is open murder, count two is kidnapping, count three is felony murder and count four is criminal sexual conduct in the second-degree,” prosecutor John McDonough said Thursday night.
The test was expedited, allowing the district attorney’s office to get the good news early.
“I can certainly tell you that things have been stressful at our house, and last night I was tremendously excited,” McDonough said. “I hope this brings closure to Jodi’s family.”
Bond for Furlong was denied.
