COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Construction progress is coming along in Branch County on phase one of the $300 million Clemens Food Group pork production facility on Coldwater’s north side. More than 800 people are expected to be employed at the plant in the first two years of operations which are scheduled to begin by September 1, 2017 at the business being built near I-69 and Jonesville Road.
Earnie Miely, the Vice-President of Human Resources for Philadelphia-based Clemens, told the Coldwater Noon Rotary Club Tuesday that they’re looking at pouring concrete footers this week with expectations of having the opening phase of 220,000 square feet under roof possibly before this winter. Miely said he’ll be busy in the coming months becoming more visible in local communities in the area to make the family owned Clemens company story that is six generations strong better known.
Miely told the Rotary audience yesterday that it’s very important that Clemens be held ethically accountable, doing the right thing and it’s integrity that drives them forward. According to Miely, they anticipate to begin interviewing for the hiring of managers and supervisors by next May.
