SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — St. Joseph County Sheriff’s deputies were informed Tuesday that 77-year-old George Bournay of Silver Creek Township had walked away from his home on Leach Road early Monday and had not been seen since.
They were concerned because he was in the beginning stages of dementia.
Tracking dogs from the sheriff’s office and from the Dowagiac Police Department were brought to the area and first found clothing items belonging to the missing man in the woods off Downey Street.
About a half-mile further into the woods, they found Bournay.
He is being treated for dehydration and possible heat stroke at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.
