BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — It’s another setback for Abigail Kopf in her recovery from the gunshot wound she suffered during Kalamazoo’s mass-shooting last February.
The 14-year-old from Battle Creek and her family have been told she will need to undergo an additional surgery to replace skin near her head wound that is not healing properly. It’s the same wound that has had a problem with infections.
She is trying to remain optimistic, even though this will add to her recovery time.
This surgery will have to heal before doctors will be able to schedule another surgery to replace the plastic plate in her head that had to be removed in June.
Kopf was the only survivor of the attack at the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Texas Township.
