GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO-AM) — The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has now concluded that there was a sixth separate tornado that was generated out of that powerful storm cell that struck Saturday.
Meteorologist Jared Maples said they think the twister that struck between Fennville and Allegan ran out of steam, and that it was another EF-1 that appeared near Jamestown in Southeastern Ottawa County.
He says the conclusion was reached after they drilled down on the available radar data and compared it to ground and aerial surveys of the damage pattern.
At first, they thought that the damage done in Allegan and Ottawa County may have been done by the same tornado that touched down near Bangor, but have since found evidence of breaks in the wind speed in between those areas.
