KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Bronson Methodist Hospital says it plans to take the old Kalamazoo Gazette property and find a better use for it.
It has been vacant for a while.
Bronson Healthcare doesn’t have a final plan for the property, but they say in a news release that plan to expand hospital operations to the downtown location. They say one facility that could be moved to the site would be their lab operation, which they say has outgrown its current space on the hospital campus.
One question that came up at Monday’s Kalamazoo City Commission meeting is whether it would remain on the tax rolls. Mayor Bobby Hopewell said they would prefer it, but can’t require it.
There are some healthcare facilities that are taxable. It depends on how Bronson Healthcare decides to use the property.
