CASSOPOLIS (WKZO-AM) — Cass County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating but believe that slippery icy road conditions are responsible for a couple of injury accidents this weekend.
At about noon Saturday, 28-year old Sandra Merckley of Dowagiac lost control on the icy surface while heading east on Dutch Settlement Road and overturned. She and her passengers were all transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Sheriff’s deputies also say 50-year-old Kenneth Edmunds of Cassopolis lost control of his car along the Pokagon Highway near Hampshire right after midnight Sunday morning. They say he went into the ditch and flipped the vehicle.
He was taken to Lakeland General Hospital in Niles for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol was not a factor in either crash and seatbelts were worn.
