BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The driver of a pickup truck had to be extricated from his vehicle by Bronson firefighters Thursday morning after the pickup crashed head-on into a large tree in Branch County’s Gilead Township.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says 50-year-old Kip Dewey Harris of Bronson was injured in the accident which happened just north of the intersection of Southern and Rierson Roads at about 7:15 a.m. He was taken by Lifecare Ambulance to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Harris was the only person in the vehicle, which sustained heavy damage.
The Sheriff’s Department says the vehicle was traveling north on Rierson Road when it crossed the road, entered a ditch and struck the tree. The contact with the tree caused Harris’ lower leg to be trapped.
The Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the accident.
