KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A California-based company that manufactures battery cases for smart phones will no longer moving to Kalamazoo.
Mophie, which originally got its start in west Michigan as an iPod peripheral company, was supposed to build a state-of-the-art facility at the Western Michigan University Business Technology and Research Park by 2013, but those plans were officially scrapped after a Utah company agreed to buy the company for about $100 million.
The sale was announced last week.
The school says the company’s new owner plans to sell its four acres at the complex.
