ALBION (WKZO-AM) — Voters in Albion will decide on May 3 whether let Marshall Schools annex the Albion School District.
Marshall has already absorbed Albion’s high school and middle school students. Only the Elementary students, the buildings and the debt remain in Albion.
The Albion School board voted 6-1 on Monday to set the vote.
The Trustees learned from former state senator Bruce Caswell, who is now a financial consultant for the Michigan Department of Education, that their alternative, if it fails, is to recruit more students, convince voters to raise property taxes and borrow a lot of money if they want to keep the district alive.
