DETROIT (WKZO) — The North American International Autoshow has kicked off press events, naming the Volvo XC-90 as the Truck of the Year and the Honda Civic as the Car of the Year.
During the show, GM will introduce the Chevy Bolt, a crossover Volt that can do 200 miles on a charge and is less expensive.
Ford is bringing back the Continental name in a new Luxury car.
And there will be many other reveals this week with over 30 new and concept cars being shown for the first time.
Senators and state officials are scheduled to make appearances and this year and President Obama also plans a visit next Tuesday. The CEO of Volkswagen appeared and immediately began appologizing for the emissions scandal.
What the Oscars are to the movie business, the Cobo Hall event is to the auto industry, and the big difference is that you are invited.
It opens to the public this weekend.
