DOWAGIAC (WKZO-AM) — Sheriff’s investigators in Cass County are trying to figure out the exact cause of a two-car crash northeast of Dowagiac that sent two people to hospitals in Niles and Kalamazoo.
According to investigators, 20-year-old Brooke Johnson of Schoolcraft lost control of her vehicle as it was traveling westbound on Marcellus Highway at around 8 p.m. Monday, swerving into an eastbound vehicle driven by 71-year-old Justin Shepard Jr. of Dowagiac.
Both were injured, though severity was not made clear.
Investigators don’t believe alcohol factored into the wreck. Johnson and Shepard were both wearing seat belts.
