GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO-AM) — The second of two bank-robbing brothers has been found guilty on multiple felonies and faces the possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison for his involvement in three heists in Kalamazoo County.
U.S. attorneys charged that Dominick Johnson was the getaway driver for his half-brother, Nathan Benson, when they robbed a PNC bank in Galesburg in May 2014, stuck up the same bank in Galesburg two months later and robbed the Old National Bank in Oshtemo last January.
Benson had already cut a deal with prosecutors.
Prosecutors say the pair would commute from Chicago, where they live, to commit the crimes.
The 33-year-old Johnson could get up to 67 years in prison when he is sentenced in federal court for three counts of armed bank robbery and three gun counts.
