BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Kellogg Community College Board of Trustees Wednesday in Battle Creek appointed Mark O’Connell as the president of the College, focusing on his leadership during challenging times he served as interim president at the school over the past ten months. O’Connell is the fifth president in the College’s history.
Appointing O’Connell as the chief executive at KCC effectively ends the Board’s presidential search process, which had been suspended in September. Former President Dr. Dennis Bona stepped down last March from KCC and moved on to accept a college presidency in Minnesota.
The 60-year old O’Connell has worked at KCC since 1990 in several positions, most recently as vice president of Administration and Finance. In the early 1990’s he spearheaded the growth of the College’s academic centers Branch County, Barry County, and Calhoun County, where students continue to be served.
O’Connell and his wife, Janet, have lived and been active in the Marshall community for more than 40 years. They have two grown sons.
