PORTER TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — A man had to be rushed to Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles by ambulance after striking a deer on westbound U.S. 12 in Porter Township.
The driver has been identified as 64-year-old James Rhodes of Niles.
Cass County Sheriff’s Deputies say Rhodes spilled onto the asphalt after failing to swerve around the animal near Birch Road on Saturday.
Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor in the collision. Rhodes was wearing a helmet.
