KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Dozens are expected to glide down a 1,000-foot slip-and-slide for a good cause on Saturday.
“It will be on West Michigan Avenue, right in front of the Bernhard Center at Western Michigan University,” Kalamazoo Mayor Bobby Hopewell said. “They’ll be sliding right down the hill toward Kalamazoo College.”
Hopewell said proceeds from “Slide the City” will help benefit Pretty Lake Camp, which provides a summer camp experience for at-risk children.
“We wanted to something different, and strange, and odd, and quirky in the community,” Hopewell said. “I think this makes that reality.”
It’ll run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. A single-slider ticket runs $18, and an inner tube is required.
Tickets can be purchased on-site and online here.
