BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A man is in custody in Battle Creek after police arrived at his home in the 100 block of Battle Creek Avenue to execute a warrant for narcotics sales and found what appeared to be a facility for training dogs for dogfights.
They rescued five pit bulls, two that were injured, and delivered them to the Calhoun County Animal Shelter.
The raid also resulted in the seizure of suspected crack cocaine, stolen property and several guns.
The suspect is being held for gross neglect, possession of dogs for fighting purposes and possession of dog fighting equipment.
He had an arraignment scheduled for Thursday.
