BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — We now know the name of the 54-year-old woman who was struck and killed last weekend on West Columbia Avenue in Battle Creek.
Police say Leeann Frederico was trying to cross the busy street at 20th Avenue when the collision occurred last Saturday at about 9:30 p.m.
Early reports say the car in the curb lane stopped to let her across, but a car in the second lane did not stop and struck her. Others say Frederico walked out in front of cars that had a green light.
CPR was attempted but did not revive her.
The collision remains under investigation. Police have not discussed the status of the driver who struck her.
