COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Funeral services for Branch County Sheriff’s Department Posse member Mike Winter will be held on Monday at 12 noon at the First Baptist Church in Coldwater.
The 39-year-old Winter passed away Tuesday at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Winter was taken there after he suffered severe head injuries when his horse got spooked and threw him off during Quincy’s Memorial Day Parade.
Winter lived in Coldwater and was a native of Dubuque, Iowa. Among his survivors are his wife Connie and two daughters.
Winter was a truck driver for many years with Brian Wilson Trucking in Coldwater. He was also a co-owner of Crooked Bull Amusement as well as Crooked Bull Tack and Apparel.
His final act was to give the gift of life through organ donations with the Indiana Donor Network.
The U.S. Navy veteran received many honors during his military career including the Navy Achievement Medal.
Visitation will be on Sunday at the Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Following Monday’s funeral, interment will full military honors will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta.
