KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff Rick Fuller says he’s pleased about new House legislation that would prohibit Michigan residents from weaponizing drones.
Fuller says he wants the state to get ahead of a developing danger.
“We should make sure that there are laws or rules in place to address this,” Fuller said. “You can watch it on YouTube, somebody putting a nine-millimeter on a drone already.”
The video in question has over 3 million views on YouTube. It prompted a federal probe after a Connecticut teenager posted the footage.
“To think about somebody being able to send something down the street or into your neighborhood and it’s weaponized, that’s bothersome,” Fuller said.
Fuller mentioned the idea to Rep. Jon Hoadley, D-Kalamazoo. Hoadley said the bill has bipartisan support.
