COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – While the threat of severe weather never materialized, much needed rain did drench Branch County Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The National Weather Service had spent several days issuing advisories for potential damaging thunderstorms, but only short periods of thunder and lightening occured in the county.
Rainfall totals varied across the area. Accuweather put the amout at .65 inch, while a rain gauge at Hoff’s Vegetable Farm just north of the city of Coldwater measured the rainfall at almost 2.5 inches.
Heavy thunderstorms and damaging winds did hit Chicago, South Bend, and much of Northern Indiana.
