ALLENDALE (WKZO-AM) — The unemployment rate in Michigan has dropped to 4.9 percent, the lowest rate since 2001, employers are having trouble finding workers, the recovery is in full bloom and the auto industry is booming.
So why are voters so angry and anxious?
Grand Valley State University Political Science Professor Erika King said Republicans are in disarray and Democrats are willing to support Bernie Sanders’ “revolution” because people are distressed about a government that isn’t working and are worried about the economy, despite all the indicators.
Many have never recovered from the Great Recession and suffered in the new economy.
She said most Republicans feel betrayed by their own party leadership, and most Democrats blame the Republicans for gumming up the works.
She said it explains Donald Trump’s successes and Bernie Sanders’ upset in Michigan.
