CASSOPOLIS (WKZO-AM) — Cass County’s circuit court judge says he’s not seeking re-election this year.
Michael E. Dodge said he’ll have to leave the post he’s held since 1982 because of mandatory mandatory retirement provisions in the Michigan constitution. Judges are disallowed for running for re-election once they reach the age of 70.
“I am very grateful that the citizens of Cass County entrusted me with this important public service for these many years,” Dodge said in a press release issued Monday morning. “I have tried my very best to serve with professionalism and to administer justice fairly to all who appear before me.”
Dodge has been on the bench in Cass County since 1977. His last day will be Dec. 31.
