JACKSON, MI (WTVB) – – Consumers Energy officials say the halfway point has been met in the installation of upgraded smart meters.
The project for 1.8 million customers is scheduled to be completed next year.
Branch County customers are getting upgraded meters during 2016.
The new smart meters will send information about customers daily energy usage to the company. Estimated bills will be eliminated.
Customers can also choose the date their electric bills are due.
Those who do not want the upgraded meters can opt out and keep their old meter.
