COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County Prosecutors have dismissed an extortion case without prejudice against a Coldwater woman. 43-year-old Diana Rodriguez was charged with two counts last December after authorities claimed she tried to extort $5,000 from 44-year-old David Green and 69-year-old Gene Matthew Keith and in return she would not tell police about sexual assaults the men allegedly committed against her daughter when the girl was 13-years-old. Investigators did not believe any money exchanged hands.
A prosecutors motion to dismiss the case against Rodriguez was granted last Friday.
Green and Keith were both accused of taking nude photos of the youngster.
Keith was given a nine month sentence this past Monday in Branch County Circuit Court with credit for 132 days after entering a guilty plea to a charge of accosting children for immoral purposes. Four other charges were dismissed.
Green is scheduled to go on trial September 27, 2016 in Branch County Circuit Court on a charge of third degree criminal sexual conduct.
