BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — Battle Creek police say a woman was killed when her car slammed head-on into a gravel truck late Tuesday morning on West Columbia Avenue near the W.K. Kellogg Airport.
Investigators say it appears the woman crossed the centerline, for reasons they have not yet determined, into the path of the tractor trailer. The truck driver hit his brakes but could not avoid the collision.
Police were dispatched to the scene at 11:37 a.m. and found the truck off the road and the wreckage of the car still on the paved surface.
They were trying to locate her family before releasing her name.
