KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — A six-year-old has been admitted to Bronson Methodist Hospital’s pediatric intensive care unit after a tragic misunderstanding in the Edison Neighborhood.
The child was injured trying to get into a car that was leaving the family’s driveway. Kalamazoo public safety was dispatched to the 1300 block of March Street after 8 p.m. Saturday night.
The driver, a 26-year-old woman, was leaving and was apparently unaware that the child was trying to get into the car on the passenger side. Just before leaving, the child expressed a desire to go with the woman, who was not related. She told the youngster to stay.
The child is listed in critical but stable condition.
The woman has been cooperative with investigators. They continue to look into the incident.
