KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — In Detroit, there have been reports of malfunctioning vote tabulators, allegations of voter intimidation at polling places in minority and Muslim neighborhoods, a few fights and complaints about understaffed polling places and long lines.
Police in Washtenaw County are looking for one unidentified man as part of an investigation into an altercation between two women who were arguing over the election of Donald Trump behind the Moose Lodge, near an Ypsilanti Township voting site. Part of the incident was recorded on cell phone, with two women being heard exchanging words.
The sheriff’s office reports problems started when two women argued over the presidential election in the parking lot. A man who stepped in to separate the pair shoved one of them to the ground before taking off. Deputies were called to the scene on Stony Creek Road around 10 a.m. yesterday, but did not make any arrests.
Newly re-elected Kalamazoo County Clerk Tim Snow said they had a few glitches, but nothing out of the ordinary.
He says they had a number of first time voters appear at polling places.
He says despite all the talk about disruptions and even violence, it was generally a typical presidential election day for Kalamazoo County.
No such disruptions occurred.
He says turnout in Kalamazoo County was right around where it was in 2012, hovering near 60 or 65 percent.
