KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Kalamazoo Public Safety’s decision to send directed patrols into student neighborhoods near WMU paid off.
The homes and apartments have been frequent targets for holiday thefts because students leave for the holiday. A PSO on Patrol caught two suspected burglars in the act in the 1500 block of Kickapoo Ct. very early on Thanksgiving Day.
The officer spotted the suspect leaving a residence while another suspect stood watch. The officer managed to take both into custody.
The two males, aged 26 and 29, were both booked into the Kalamazoo County Jail on home invasion charges and for having burglar tools.
Public Safety is warning homeowners to secure their homes while they are away visiting relatives, or even when they are just out shopping.
