COLDWATER,, MI (WTVB) – Bond for a Coldwater woman has been set at $500,000 after she was charged by Branch County Prosecutors with abusing her infant son.
26-year-old Karah Louise Shepherd was arraigned on Monday in Branch County District Court on two counts of First Degree Child Abuse, one count of Second Degree Child Abuse and a count of First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct.
She was arrested and booked into the Branch County Jail following an investigation by the Michigan State Police into alleged incidents between May and July.
According to court documents, Shepherd said during an interview that she got upset with her son because of his crying.
The injured baby was two months old in July when State Police were called to the Community Health Center of Branch County. The injuries according to documents included broken bones.
Shepherd is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing on October 3 and a preliminary exam on October 10, 2016.
